What is Maverick Health

How does the test work?

This is a saliva-based COVID-19 collection kit. It is a RT-qPCR test that detects specific genes from the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which is the virus that causes COVID-19. The virus's genetic material is extracted from your sample, and if they are present, the test is considered positive.

How accurate is this test for detecting COVID-19?

This RT-qPCR test is highly sensitive for the presence of SARS-CoV-2, with 98% of tests providing either a positive or a negative result, and only 2% of tests providing an inconclusive result. The false negative and false positive rate for the saliva test are each 1%.

Is this test authorized by the FDA?

Yes. This assay is intended for use under the FDA's EUA #200090 authorized on April 10, 2020. See the FDA approval.

Is the IBX saliva test a PCR test performed in a CLIA certified lab?

Yes, IBX is both CLIA certified and CAP accredited laboratory. The SARS-CoV-2 test is RT PCR test.

How long do I have to use my kit?

Unopened, the saliva test kit has a shelf life of greater than one year.

How long does it take to get my results?

Results will be made available within 12-48 hours of the lab's receipt of the specimen.

Does this test need to be refrigerated?

No, this test does not require refrigeration.
